Dr. Ralph Potkin, Chapter President  opens the meeting 

Karl Huggins, PhD moderated the morning session.

Dr. Ed Kay, Past President of the UHMS-Pacific Chapter (1995) gave the conferences first lecture on "Decompression Illness in Tunnel Workers in Seattle" 

                      
Dr. Michael Strauss presented "An Update on a Wound Scoring System" 
Dr. Ralph Potkin, UHMS Director of Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs spoke to the conference on "The Medical Problems of Free Divers". Dr. Peter Denoble of DAN discussed the  "Most Common Fatal Injuries in Diving and Risk Factors"  Dr. Morgan Wells, known world wide for his pioneering work on many aspects of diving, presented "Development of Nitrox Tables"  
                    
                      

Friday Afternoon

Dr. Matthew Berry, Chapter Executive Director, requests all cell phones be turned off as he moderated the afternoon session. Dick Sample, CHT and Chapter President Elect makes a point during his presentation  on "Spirometric Changes with Long Term HBO Therapy: A prospective Study Dr. Ralph Potkin's patient with hereditary telangiectasia fascinated the audience when he shared his experience with Cerebral Air Embolism. Dr. Ben Slade, Past President of the UHMS-Pacific Chapter (2000) presented "Acute Pulmonary Edema During Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy"
                      

Dr. Robert Schoene, President of the Wilderness Medical Society, presented "Lung Leak at High Altitudes"

Dr. Stuart Miller is congratulated by Dr. Matthew Berry on being elected Chapter Secretary for the upcoming year. Dr. Miller  will be Chapter President for the 2010 meeting.

Dr. Potkin moderated the evening  In a solemn moment, Dr. Potkin paid tribute to Dr. Ron Bangasser, who passed away this past year.  Ron was a nationally recognized leader in medicine, and will be missed. Dr. Morgan Wells receives the Merrill Spencer lifetime achievement award from Dr. Potkin and Dr. Berry, 2 of the many physicians who he has educated in hyperbarics.   
 Dr. Wells accepts the prestigious award. Dr. Schoene give the Keynote Address entitled "Science on High - From Mt Everest to the ICU".  The gavel is passed - Dr. Ralph Potkin passes the gavel to incoming Chapter President Dick Sample The UHMS-Pacific Chapter Executive Committee, L to R, Ralph Potkin, Steve Kirtland, Dick Sample, Stuart Miller, Matthew Berry     
                           

Saturday Morning 

Chapter President Dr. Ralph Potkin opens "Diver Day" Chapter President-Elect Dick Sample, CHT moderated the days sessions Dr. Lorre Henderson Past President of the UHMS-Pacific Chapter (2006) gave the days first lecture on "What Every Diver Should Know About Their Ears” Dr. Michael Strauss discussed "Mammalian Adaptations to Diving"
                      
Karen Elaine presented her violin playing "Adventure in Antarctica" Peter Denoble of DAN presented "Comparison of Fatalities in Recreational, Cave & Rebreather Divers" Karl Huggins talked on "In Search of the Elusive Free Diving Bubbles"  
                      

Saturday Afternoon

Merrill Spencer award winner Dr. Morgan Wells answers a question during his lecture on "underwater Habitation" Scott Cassell shared his experiences on "Diving with the Humboldt Squids" Dr. Matthew Berry  spoke on “Marine Life Hazards”  Ken Kurtis ended the conference discussing "Hard to find Fish and Where to Find Them"
